Posting on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, explained he only now felt prepared to share openly about his personal sorrow.
"Enough time has passed that I can at last articulate my loss into words," shared Elwes, saying that his first meeting with Reiner made him fall in love. "When we commenced spending more time together I understood this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor posted never-before-seen clips from the movie, commenting that he doesn't recollect "one day without joy".
"This story is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Things that Rob valued immensely. This is one of the many reasons he was the ideal person to direct it," Elwes wrote.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, saying: "To say that they were a incredible duo would be an oversimplification. My heart still hurts every time I recall you." He ended with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Friend and Collaborator
In a separate tribute, legendary director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved being with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the protagonist.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked beautifully with everyone, and he comprehended the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese added.

In a new development, a Los Angeles judge ruled to block the publication of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, after an appeal from the LAPD.
