Anthony Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Deadly Road Accident

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been released from care, officials in Lagos confirmed on Wednesday night. The athlete was involved in a car accident outside Lagos on December 29th, a devastating event that claimed the lives of two of his close associates.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

The boxer had been under observation while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter had said on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on social media that Joshua was judged healthy enough to leave and heal privately.

“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two friends who passed away as they were being readied to be sent home,” the commissioner stated.

Honoring the Deceased

Those who lost their lives were identified as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. The official further stated that the champion was filled with sorrow and deeply emotional over the passing of his two trusted companions.”

His release from the hospital follows the global fight fans had expressed condolences for the fighter in the following the terrible crash.
